Balikatan Photo Post
Well, it's about that time; the time when I get back from a trip somewhere and post the best pictures I took whlie I was down there. So, here they are.
I got to go out on the drop zone for one of the days. While there, another C-130 from Okinawa showed up to aid in the effort...only they were kind of broken. Sort of. See if you can spot it!
The USAF had pararescue jumpers and H-60 helicopters there in addition to their C-130s. PJs are badass motherfuckers.
The best airdrop picture I got while on the DZ; this one is up on the wall in the Cpl Hartwig Photo Gallery in the nav shop.
Average time of fall for a jumper from 1500 feet is about 70 seconds or so. It depends on how much they are carrying.
I liked this one a lot, it turned out pretty neat. Death from above? Sorta.
Here's a view from inside the plane looking out. That big thing blowing in the slipstream is the static line retriever with all the static lines from the jumpers wrapped around it.
While on one of our runs we flew through the middle of a really awesome optical effect with the sun and the clouds.
This is what we did. Land, keep the motors running, and load/unload cargo.
We flew really close to some volcanoes. Most of our flying was done at night, but we did do one leg in the day, which is where these pictures came from.
Another mountain.
Your Nation's Air Force hard at work.
A snapshot I took on approach into Tacloban one evening.
